In 1930s Germany, singer Sally Bowles enchants the crowd nightly at the Kit Kat Klub. Led by the enigmatic Emcee, misfits and outcasts of Berlin come together, taking refuge from the storm of a rapidly changing society where their kind is less than welcome. No Stakes Theater Project presents this modern classic as the first foray of their “Actor Initiative,” which aims to overcome the limitations of typecasting by providing actors with the opportunity to explore unlikely casting.

Reviews

Director Brady scales this production down to a small, intimate, sparsely dressed stage, taking full advantage of the spatial limitations of the set to blur the lines between what happens in the Kit Kat Club where Sally performs, the boarding house where Cliff takes a room and the rest of Berlin. … The overall effect is deliberately dream-like and unsettling. The audience is put a little bit on edge, and appropriately so.”
